IRON ORE

OVERVIEW

Our mining operations from our captive mines help us get high quality Iron Ore.
We offer this Iron Ore in a natural and unprocessed state in the form of Lumps or Fines to our customers. These are commonly used as a feedstock in blast furnaces in the production of pig iron and subsequently steel.
Minera’s Iron Ore has a high Fe content, with fewer impurities and lower levels of phosphorus, Al203 and LOI.

OUR PROCESS

Iron ore is extracted from the Mines by the process of drilling, blasting and excavation.  The ores are usually rich in Iron content ranging from 56% to 62% Fe and usually found in the form of hematite (Fe 2 O 3 ).

The Iron Ore containing very high quantities of hematite greater than about 60% are known as natural ore or direct shipping ore, and can be fed directly into iron making blast furnaces. Iron ore is the raw material used to make pig iron, which is one of the main raw materials to make steel 98% of the mined iron ore is used to make steel.

Minera has adapted to innovative and efficient technologies such as the straight grate pellet plant from Ural Mash, Russia. In 2018, we included coal gasification in the sponge iron production to reduce dependence on harmful sulphur-dioxide producing furnace oil – resulting in greater efficiency and lesser pollution.

From sourcing raw materials to processing to final pellet sample analysis, our chemists and QA technicians work tirelessly to ensure that our customers get premium quality materials. The QC laboratory is equipment with top-of-the-line spectrometers, electronic balances, Blaine apparatus for testing samples.
